Situated in Sutton, London, this SEN College is dedicated to providing outstanding education and support to post-16 students with ASD and PMLD. The primary mission is to equip these students with the skills needed for leading fulfilling and independent lives.

We are searching for a dynamic and dedicated Employability Lecturer to start as soon as possible. As an Employability Lecturer, you will be responsible for crafting and implementing innovative employability programs tailored to the distinctive needs of students with ASD and PMLD. Your focus will include fostering vocational and life skills, promoting independence, and preparing students for the challenges of the professional world.

This is a full-time, long term role with a view to going permanent. The salary will be equal to the Lecturers’ pay scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver employability-focused lessons and workshops, ensuring they are inclusive and accessible for students with ASD and PMLD.
  • Collaborate closely with the SEN team to identify individual student needs and personalise programs to support specific goals and aspirations.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive learning environment, fostering independence, confidence, and social skills development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback to facilitate continuous improvement.
  • Stay current with industry trends and adapt curriculum content to align with prevailing employability standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Possess a relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, QLTS, etc.).
  • Previous experience in teaching and curriculum design for students with ASD and PMLD.
  • Familiarity with best practices in employability education and transition planning for young adults with special educational needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability, and a positive attitude toward working in a SEN environment.
