About the Role:

The school is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Head of Maths to join their team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in leading the Maths department, developing students' mathematical skills, and fostering a love for the subject. This is a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2024.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management: Lead and manage the Maths department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Plan and Deliver Engaging Lessons: Create comprehensive lesson plans that inspire students and align with the national curriculum.
  • Mathematical Problem Solving: Conduct engaging sessions to enhance students' problem-solving skills and logical thinking.
  • Assessment: Monitor and assess students' progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
  • Classroom Management: Maintain a positive and productive classroom environment.
  • Extra-Curricular Activities: Lead or support extra-curricular clubs and activities related to Maths.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and share best practices.
  • Professional Development: Support the professional development of Maths teachers through mentoring and training.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Must hold a valid QTS certification.
  • Relevant Degree: A degree in Mathematics or a related field.
  • Experience: Prior experience teaching Maths at the secondary school level is essential. Experience in a leadership role is highly desirable.
  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrate strong leadership and organisational skills.
  • Passion for Teaching: Demonstrate a passion for the subject and for teaching young people.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
